Masonry Logic Lobby Wall
Masonry Logic Lobby Wall

to 3-Sep-08
A pattern study for the entry walls of a residential building, this project combined the idea of directed randomness with real construction constraints. The goal of the design team was a transition from the stacked undulating plywood lobby walls to the exterior glass facade. However, because of the materiality of the wall (stacked plywood), simply removing pieces of the wall was not possible. My challenge was to create a system that would remove a specified percentage of the wall while maintaining the structural stability of the wall by following masonry logic and cantilever rules. All coding in RhinoScript. Original base subdivision of the wall by Onur Gun.
